グローバル会議で何が難しいかって…
それは**「相手を否定せずに、でも自分の懸念点はちゃんと伝えたい」**というシーン。
日本語なら
「なるほど、でもちょっと気になるのが…」
「一理あるんだけど、別の観点もあって…」
みたいにニュアンスで逃げられるけど、
英語だと下手すると…
- “Yes but…” → 急に否定感MAX
- “But…” → トゲトゲしく聞こえる
ってことが本当に多いんです。
そこで今回は、
僕が実際に海外会議やJIRAコメント、Slack、メールで使ってきた
「YES but」→「Yes and」「Yes although」「Yes however」などの柔らか変換例
を、シチュエーション別にご紹介します！
【シチュエーション別：“YES but…”の上手な英語フレーズ集】
✅ 【パターン1：「まず同意を見せてから、懸念を伝える」】
1. 「その方向性はいいけど、少し懸念があります」
- Yes, I like that direction, but I do have some concerns about [issue].
- Yes, that sounds good overall, although there are a couple of things we might need to address.
2. 「いいですね！ただ、少し補足すると…」
- Yes, great point! One thing to add is…
- Yes, totally agree with that! Just to add another perspective…
3. 「その点には賛成ですが…」
- Yes, I agree with that point, but we should also consider…
- Yes, I see your point, though we may need to think about [risk].

❌ Bad:

おわりに：「YESは相手の土俵、BUTは自分の土俵」
ポイントは、
「いきなりBUTから入らないこと」
「相手の立場を尊重してから、自分の意見を入れること」
これだけで、会議の空気が180度変わります。
